'Me and Bobby McGee' is a great song. What would it sound like if the windshield wipers did slap time as the words suggest? Additional rhythm is tapped out on a guitar while a felted piano provides a harmonic framework. An earlier effort to create a polyphonic melody from clarinet, melodica and violin was abandoned, but then stretched to create the shifting pad. Finally, the clarinet melody is of uneven length, and so, emphases are varied on each repetition - it's like looking at it from a different vantage point each time.
